Corropoli: Dog uncovers 270 grams of cocaine during truffle hunt
A truffle hunter in the countryside of Corropoli, in the province of Teramo, discovered 270 grams of high-purity cocaine while searching for fungi. The discovery was made by the man's Lagotto Romagnolo, a dog named Fulmine, which began digging in a vegetated area and retrieved three dark, compact packages.
Upon realizing the objects were not truffles, the owner alerted the Carabinieri of Alba Adriatica. Authorities confirmed the packages contained three approximately 80-gram lumps of cocaine, packaged to resist soil moisture. The seized drugs have an estimated street value between 20,000 and 25,000 euros. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for hiding the narcotics in the hills.
