Corruption Probe Expands in Gowa over Mosque Rehabilitation and Permit Bribery

Tipikor (anti‑corruption) unit of the Polres Gowa police is investigating an alleged corruption case linked to the 2025 rehabilitation project of Masjid Agung Syekh Yusuf. The acting head of the district Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Subchan Ishak, was questioned as part of the inquiry.

The probe also covers a separate bribery scheme involving the issuance of Building Permit Approvals (PBG) and Functional Certificates (SLF). Former head of the Housing, Settlement and Land Agency, Abdullah Sirajuddin, has been named a suspect, and investigators have traced an initial fund flow of about Rp1.86 billion that appears to stem from illegal fees collected from developers and businesses.

In addition, Ardiansyah, chair of the Gowa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was examined as a witness. Police have already interviewed dozens of individuals and continue to gather evidence. "We are taking statements related to the rehabilitation of Masjid Agung Syekh Yusuf," said Iptu Arman Tarru, the acting head of the Polres Gowa criminal investigation unit, adding that they have also taken testimony from the Kadin chair.
