Corsair updates RMe Platinum power supplies with ThermalProtect technology
Corsair has updated its RMe Platinum power supply line, specifically the RM850e and RM1000e models, to include the new ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 600W (12V-2x6) cable. This update is designed to address safety concerns regarding 16-pin connectors in modern high-performance graphics cards.
The ThermalProtect technology utilizes hardware monitoring located 30mm from the GPU connection to track cable temperatures. If the temperature exceeds 65°C, an integrated Over-Temperature Protection (OTP) mechanism automatically shuts down the GPU to prevent physical damage. Additionally, the cables feature two-tone connectors to help users visually confirm a secure connection.
The updated units feature Cybenetics Platinum certification, achieving up to 91% efficiency. They are built with high-quality 105°C Japanese capacitors, support ATX 3.1 standards, and utilize a compact 140mm form factor. The power supplies also include a Zero RPM mode for silent operation under low to moderate loads.
