Corso Benedetto Croce partially reopens during BRT construction

Construction for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Corso Benedetto Croce has led to the partial reopening of a section of the road between Via Laterza and Via Monfalcone. Following previous protests from local merchants, the stretch is now partially accessible to vehicles, with full clearance expected over the weekend.

The project involves the implementation of the Lilla line, an eight-kilometer electric bus route designed to connect the Parco 2 Giugno area with the central station through Municipality 2 and the city center. The new transit system will feature a dedicated BRT lane marked by red asphalt, yellow lines, and road studs.

While the Lilla line will primarily operate in a reserved lane, electric buses will share the roadway with private vehicles in the initial section near Largo Ciaia. The infrastructure upgrades include the installation of technological, interconnected bus shelters at several key stops, including Parco Rossani, Benedetto Croce, Chiesa Russa, and Via Don Luigi Sturzo.
