Corte dei Conti rejects €468,000 damage claim against Giffoni Film Festival
The Campania regional section of Italy’s Corte dei Conti dismissed the regional prosecutor’s request for compensation of roughly €468,000–€500,000 lodged against the autonomous body Giffoni Experience and four of its officials – president Pietro Rinaldi, director Claudio Gubitosi, RUP Enzo Barletta and logistics manager Mariapia Montuori. The court ruled the claim “totally unfounded”, noting that the transport contract was a lump‑sum agreement, the service was provided regularly, expenses were fully documented, and the prosecutor’s damage estimate was not credible.
The ruling also ordered the prosecutor to reimburse the defence costs of the defendants. The Giffoni Film Festival welcomed the decision, emphasizing that the festival’s administration had always acted transparently and that the transport service was essential for the event’s success.
