Corte dei Conti in Trieste targeted by intimidation attempt involving a bullet

An anonymous envelope containing a bullet was delivered to the headquarters of the Corte dei Conti in Trieste, Friuli Venezia Giulia. The envelope, which lacked a specific recipient's name, was opened by an executive who immediately alerted law enforcement.

Local authorities and political figures have issued strong condemnations of the incident. Regional Councilor Furio Honsell described the event as a “grave mafia intimidation” and emphasized the need to protect the Court’s role as an independent body responsible for overseeing public resources. Regional Security Assessor Pierpaolo Roberti called the act a “vile and absurd” intimidation attempt, while Regional Council President Mauro Bordin stated that undermining the work of administrative judges is akin to threatening the Italian Constitution.

Police are currently conducting investigations to identify the sender and determine the circumstances surrounding the delivery.
