Corte di Cassazione rejects appeal in Marsala robbery case

The Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione) has rejected an appeal by Gerlando Giunta, a 39-year-old man from Marsala, regarding his house arrest. The second criminal section declared the appeal inadmissible.

Giunta is a suspect in an aggravated robbery of ferrous material at the company Formula Ambiente. The prosecution alleges that Giunta and an accomplice committed the robbery by threatening an employee, Daniele Angileri, with a pocketknife.

While the defense argued that the victim's testimony was inconsistent and the report was delayed, the Court did not accept these arguments. In addition to rejecting the appeal, the Court ordered Giunta to pay 3,000 euros to the Cassa delle ammende.
