Cassazione rules signing school minutes for colleagues is ideological falsehood

The Italian Supreme Court (Cassazione) has ruled that class council minutes are official public documents. Consequently, a teacher who signs a minute on behalf of a colleague through an informal delegation commits the crime of ideological falsehood.

The ruling follows a case where a parent requested access to final assessment records and discovered a signature had been applied by a colleague rather than the entitled teacher. The Court clarified that because these minutes are part of an administrative procedure that officially certifies student evaluations, the signature is an essential element certifying actual participation and responsibility.
