Cortnee Vine signs with Melbourne City

Matildas forward Cortnee Vine has signed with Melbourne City for the 2026/27 A-League Women's season. The 28-year-old returns to Australia after spending two seasons in the United States playing for the North Carolina Courage in the NWSL.

Vine cited Melbourne City's professionalism, resources, and high standards as primary reasons for her decision, stating the club is ‘a level about the rest’. The move also allows her to be closer to family and friends in Australia.

A veteran of the A-League, Vine previously played for Brisbane Roar, Newcastle Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers, and Sydney FC. During her time with Sydney FC, she scored 30 goals in 65 appearances and helped the club secure three premierships and a championship. She expressed a strong desire to use her return to regular football to secure her place in the Matildas setup ahead of the next FIFA Women's World Cup.
