Corumbá hosts Anzol Rosa female sport fishing event
The city of Corumbá, located in the Brazilian Pantanal, has launched the 2026 edition of Anzol Rosa, a sport fishing project dedicated to female empowerment. The event consists of two stages held between October 28 and November 5, with departures from the city's Porto Geral.
Supported by the state government, the initiative aims to strengthen regional tourism and promote women's participation in an activity historically dominated by men. Corumbá serves as a strategic hub for the sector, hosting Latin America's largest fleet of hotel boats with over 20 vessels. The tourism industry currently accounts for approximately 4% of Mato Grosso do Sul's GDP, valued at roughly R$ 4 billion annually.
Since its inception, Anzol Rosa has gathered approximately 2,000 fishers from Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia. The project utilizes catch-and-release practices to encourage environmental connection and local economic growth, benefiting lodging, food services, transportation, and local equipment retailers.
