Corumbá inaugurates first neonatal and pediatric ICU

Cassems has inaugurated the first neonatal and pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Corumbá and the surrounding Pantanal region. The new facility at the Cassems Hospital in Corumbá features 10 intensive care beds: five dedicated to neonatal care for newborns up to 28 days old, and five for pediatric care for children aged 29 days to 12 years.

The project involved a total investment of R$ 11.19 million, with R$ 7.44 million allocated to construction and R$ 3.75 million for medical equipment. The unit also includes the establishment of a Human Milk Bank. Corumbá Mayor Gabriel Alves Oliveira noted that the facility, developed through a partnership between the municipality, the state government, and Cassems, represents a significant improvement in treating critically ill patients in the region.
