Operation Eredità targets PCC and Italian mafia drug network

Brazilian Federal Police, in coordination with Italian authorities including the Carabinieri ROS and the Turin Anti-Mafia Directorate, have launched Operation Eredità. The operation aims to dismantle a transnational criminal network linking the Brazilian First Capital Command (PCC) with the Italian mafia.

Investigators have identified a structure that ensures the continuity of drug trafficking from the Port of Paranaguá to European markets, including Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Portugal. The investigation follows previous operations such as Retis, Spiderweb, Samba, and Mafiusi.

Authorities have executed eight arrest warrants and five search and seizure warrants, alongside freezing assets, bank accounts, and real estate. A key target is lawyer Patrick Raasch Cardoso, who is accused of using his legal privileges to relay instructions from prison to external operators and criminal leaders.

Evidence from previous years shows the network was involved in at least 11 drug seizures between 2019 and 2020, totaling over 4.6 tons of cocaine.
