Corvallis journalists to discuss misinformation and elections
The League of Women Voters of Corvallis will host a public program titled “How Misinformation Distorts Elections: The Role of Local Journalism” on Wednesday, August 19, at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library. The event is the first in a three-part series titled “Truth, Trust, and Democracy: Information, Elections, and Voter Confidence,” designed to increase voter clarity and participation ahead of the November midterm elections.
A panel of four local media professionals will discuss the impact of misinformation on democratic processes and the role of local news in maintaining election integrity. Panelists include Penny Rosenberg of the Oregon Journalism Project, Steve Schultz of The Corvallis Advocate, Dan Crall of KORC, and Jim Rondeau of KLCC. The session will include audience questions and small group discussions. Future programs in the series are scheduled for September 16 and October 21.
