Cory Durden emerges as vocal presence for New England Patriots

New England Patriots defensive tackle Cory Durden is making an impression during training camp, both through his on-field performance and his vocal presence. Head coach Mike Vrabel noted Durden’s tendency to engage in frequent banter and trash talk during scrimmages, a trait Vrabel compared to his own playing style.

After being waived by the New York Giants, the 27-year-old Durden joined the Patriots' practice squad and was promoted to the active roster last season. He played a significant role in the defense, appearing in 383 defensive snaps and recording 30 pressures and 18 run stops.

As he enters a contract year, Durden aims to improve his pass-rushing statistics, specifically targeting five sacks this season. He has been working with veteran defensive tackles such as Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark during the offseason to refine his technique. Durden is expected to take over a starting role previously held by Khyiris Tonga.
