Cosentino explores the future of multifunctional kitchen design

Cosentino and The Plan by Poggenpohl hosted a “Future of the Kitchen” session at The Plan Showroom in Kuala Lumpur to discuss how lifestyle changes, technology, and material innovation are reshaping kitchen design.

Design experts Ramesh Seshan of Seshan Design, along with Edo Kartono and Lee Yvonne of Edo Yvonne Design Assembly, explored the transition of the kitchen from a dedicated cooking space to the ‘heart’ of the home. The discussion emphasized that modern kitchens must serve multiple functions, including areas for working, dining, and social interaction.

Ramesh Seshan noted that future kitchen design should not be defined by a specific aesthetic, but rather by how well it adapts to the actual daily lives and movements of the inhabitants. This includes a growing focus on both wet and dry kitchens, which are now receiving equal attention in terms of layout and integration with living spaces.
