Cosenza Calcio ordered to pay over €1 million in unpaid waste taxes

The Cosenza Tax Court has rejected an appeal by the football club Cosenza Calcio against the Municipality of Cosenza regarding unpaid waste tax (TARI) for the years 2019 through 2023. The ruling confirms that the club owes the municipality an amount exceeding one million euros.

Cosenza Calcio had challenged the assessment issued by the collection agency Municipia S.p.A., arguing issues such as incorrect quantification of the taxable surfaces at the San Vito-Marulla stadium and the sporadic use of the facility. However, the court found the municipality's actions to be legitimate. While the court noted that a specific legal principle regarding the accumulation of violations should be applied to favor the taxpayer, the core of the club's appeal was largely dismissed.
