Cosenza leaders call for urban regeneration and social renewal

Giacomo Mancini, a former parliamentarian and mayoral candidate, has launched the first meeting of ‘Immagina Cosenza – Conversazioni per costruire il domani’. During the event, held at the CineTeatro Universal with architect Giovanni Multari, Mancini emphasized the need for urban and social regeneration to prevent the city's decline. He stated that the goal is to create conditions for Cosenza to grow, attract talent, and generate new opportunities, making the city a place where people choose to stay or return.

In a related local concern, former city councilor Giovanni Cipparrone has raised alarms regarding the abandoned former district office on Via Popilia. Once a vital hub for municipal services, including registry offices and medical clinics, the building is reportedly vacant following a rental dispute between the Municipality and Aterp. Cipparrone warned that the lack of a future project for the site risks leaving the structure vulnerable to vandalism and permanent decay.
