Cosenza: PD official demands clarity on Villaggio del Fanciullo funds

Giacomo Mancini, a representative of the Democratic Party (PD) in Calabria, is demanding transparency from the Cosenza municipality regarding the redevelopment of the Villaggio del Fanciullo.

Mancini highlighted that approximately 452,000 euros had been allocated for the revitalization of the village and its surrounding areas, with an additional 45,200 euros added in 2022 to cover rising costs. Despite the municipality announcing in January 2023 that procurement procedures were complete, the site remains in a state of abandonment.

Mancini has called for specific details regarding the administrative and accounting status of these funds, asking whether contracts were signed or if the projects were officially awarded. He proposed transforming the complex into a ‘Fucina dei Giovani’ (Youth Forge) to honor its historical role in providing education and vocational training to local youth.
