Cosm Los Angeles debuts immersive IT horror experience

Cosm Los Angeles has launched ‘IT in Shared Reality’, marking the venue’s first horror experience and its fourth experiential cinema title in partnership with Warner Bros. The presentation utilizes a massive 87-foot LED dome to create an immersive environment for Andy Muschietti’s 2017 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel.

Unlike traditional cinema, the Shared Reality format expands imagery beyond standard rectangular frames, surrounding the audience with the film’s environments to increase the sense of scale and immersion. The premiere event featured director Andy Muschietti and Cosm President and CEO Jeb Terry, alongside Warner Bros.’ Scott Coleman.

The experience aims to transform the viewing process by making the film’s settings, such as the town of Derry, feel as though they are unfolding around the viewers rather than being viewed on a distant screen.
