Cosmax develops AI model to predict alopecia areata
Cosmax has developed an AI-based prediction model for alopecia areata, utilizing a massive dataset of approximately 22 million health examination records from South Korea and Japan. Unlike traditional invasive methods that require biological samples, this non-invasive model analyzes 33 key variables, including physiological indicators like blood pressure and liver function, alongside demographic and lifestyle factors.
The company is integrating this technology into its personalized beauty platform, BYNIQ, to recommend specific hair care solutions based on an individual's risk level. Additionally, Cosmax is expanding its research into global hair care, conducting multi-ethnic scalp lipid analysis to develop customized biomarkers and products for different racial groups.
Cosmax's hair care division reported a 65% year-on-year revenue increase in the first half of this year. The company continues to advance its research through collaborations, such as developing the 'Corelink-S' material with Seoul National University to improve hair strength.
