Cosmax partners with Pohang Accelerator Laboratory for advanced cosmetic R&D

Cosmax has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) to advance the development of next-generation cosmetics using high-tech scientific infrastructure.

The partnership will utilize the Pohang Synchrotron Radiation Accelerator (PLS-II), which provides light billions of times brighter than sunlight, to perform precise atomic-level analysis of material structures. While previous collaborations focused on skin delivery systems—such as liposomes and lipid nanoparticles—the new agreement expands research into sunscreens, color cosmetics, hair products, and cosmetic material structures.

Cosmax has already seen significant commercial success from this collaboration; revenue from skin delivery technology, which began at approximately 6 billion won in 2021, is projected to reach 100 billion won this year. The company has also received the Jang Young-shil Award from the Ministry of Science and ICT for its technological achievements in this field.
