Cosmetic industry integrates natural and marine actives with scientific research

The cosmetics and nutricosmetics sectors are increasingly integrating natural ingredients with scientific rigor. New product developments focus on combining plant or marine-based actives with patented formulas to address skin concerns and cellular longevity.

Laboratoire Bio Recherche has introduced the Oxyprolane® Éclat du Teint range, which utilizes the patented Gatuline® Spot-Light complex derived from Sophora flavescens and kiwi to target pigmentation. Other brands, such as Naturadika, are focusing on cellular health through supplements like Long Essence, which uses Nicotinamide Riboside to promote longevity.

Marine biotechnology is also playing a significant role, with algae being utilized for their hydrating, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties. Specific species such as Furcellaria and Salicornia are used for moisture retention, while sea fennel and Chlorella vulgaris offer alternatives to retinol by accelerating natural exfoliation and smoothing wrinkles without the risk of inflammation.
