Key areas of concern include chemical hair straighteners, which a study of 34,000 individuals linked to an increased risk of uterine cancer, potentially due to substances like formaldehyde. Additionally, products containing benzoyl peroxide may develop benzene if stored in high-temperature environments for extended periods.
Other risks identified include the use of UV light for drying permanent nail polish and certain chemicals found in waterproof makeup. Experts advise consumers to prioritize reliable brands and strictly follow manufacturer storage instructions to mitigate these risks.
