Cosmic signals linked to dark stars and plasma waves

Researchers are investigating new explanations for mysterious cosmic signals. Scientists Sohan Ghodla and Cosmin Ilie from Colgate University suggest that these signals may originate from hypothetical ‘dark stars’ that existed billions of years ago. These stars, which may have gained energy from dark matter rather than nuclear fusion, could have collapsed to form the supermassive black holes observed early in the universe's history.

In a separate study published in Nature Communications, scientists from the Czech Academy of Sciences and Charles University analyzed electromagnetic waves caused by plasma instabilities in Earth's outer radiation belt. The research describes these cosmic waves as sounding like chirps, hisses, or whistles when converted to audio. The study found that these waves follow a specific spatial and temporal pattern, occurring most frequently over areas of the Earth experiencing midday.

Both studies contribute to a deeper understanding of cosmic phenomena, ranging from the origins of massive black holes to the electromagnetic environment affecting telecommunications satellites in Earth's orbit.
