Cosmin Olăroiu leads Al Jazira after €1 million Bosnian defender signing

Romanian coach Cosmin Olăroiu, 57, took charge of UAE Pro League side Al Jazira on 1 July, signing a five‑million‑dollar contract that makes him the highest‑paid Romanian manager. Under his direction the club held a pre‑season camp in the Netherlands, playing friendly matches that included a 1‑0 win over Zwolle, a 3‑1 victory against Vitesse Arnhem and a goalless draw with Belgian side St Truiden.

During the camp Al Jazira completed a €1 million transfer for 22‑year‑old Bosnian centre‑back Nermin Mujkic from FK Sarajevo, with the Bosnian club retaining a 20 % future‑sale clause. Additional signings announced by the club were Turkish goalkeeper Ersin Destanoğlu, left‑back Ruben Amaral and winger Milson. Al Jazira, which finished fourth last season and has not won the league title since 2021, is aiming to challenge for the championship and will face Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad in the Asian Champions League qualifiers.
