Costa Boal invests over €3 million in Douro boutique hotel
Portuguese wine producer Costa Boal is spending more than three million euros to convert the historic Quinta do Arufe estate in Favaios into a boutique hotel, winery and restaurant with 14 rooms. Each room will be named after a Portuguese grape variety. The project also includes a tasting room and organized tours of the family's vineyards, which cover 85 hectares across the Douro, Trás‑os‑Montes and Alentejo regions.
Founder António Boal told Dinheiro Vivo, “We cannot not have a place to receive people when they want to visit our estates or even our clients.” The development aims to become a reference for sustainable enotourism, linking visitors directly with nature and the Douro wine region, which is currently facing a crisis of overproduction and declining consumption.
