Costa dei Trabocchi mayors seek unified stance on park boundaries

Nineteen mayors from municipalities within the Costa dei Trabocchi and Teatina Park territory have been summoned to Rome by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security for technical and political discussions on September 16.

To prepare for this meeting, the Province of Chieti organized an online consultation on September 14. The primary objective is to coordinate a unified vision for sustainable development and address concerns regarding land use. A major point of contention is the current perimeter and 'zone 2' classification, which local leaders fear will impose bureaucratic obstacles on intensive agriculture, specifically affecting vineyards, olive groves, and fruit orchards.

While most mayors seek to reach a common position to request modifications to the park's boundaries and agricultural zoning, five of the nineteen have expressed outright opposition to their territory being included in the park, calling for legislation to cancel its establishment entirely.
