Costa Makauda lifeguard rescues 150 people from wildfire

Lifeguard Andrea Catanzaro played a critical role in evacuating approximately 150 people from Costa Makauda during a wildfire. As flames approached the area, Catanzaro led guests to the beach and used wet t-shirts to protect women and children from inhaling smoke.

Local business owner Alessandro Di Mora, proprietor of Copacabana beach, supported the emergency response by canceling all reservations and opening his establishment to provide food, assistance, and shelter to those displaced, including pregnant women. The Municipality of Ribera issued a public statement praising the efforts of the staff and the business owners for their humanitarian response to the crisis.
