Costa Navarino implements staff retention and housing strategy
Costa Navarino is implementing a comprehensive strategy to address labor shortages in the Greek tourism sector by focusing on staff retention and welfare. The company employs approximately 2,700 people during peak periods, with a workforce that is roughly 90% Greek and includes about 300 international employees.
To ensure stability, the company provides housing for nearly 1,500 employees, including a hospitality complex for 360 people completed in 2023 at Navarino Bay. Retention rates are reported at 95% for permanent staff and approximately 75% to 95% for seasonal workers, many of whom work up to ten months per year.
Additional employee benefits include covering utility costs and private insurance, as well as providing a psychological support platform. The company also invests heavily in professional development, dedicating over 80,000 hours annually to staff training, which has resulted in more than 70% of management positions being filled internally.
