Costa Nova: Search resumes for man missing at sea in Ílhavo

Search operations have resumed for a man approximately 40 years old who disappeared in the sea at Costa Nova beach, in the Ílhavo municipality, on Monday afternoon.

Witnesses reported seeing the individual in the water calling for help before he vanished. Initial search efforts involving maritime units, local firefighters, and a Portuguese Air Force aircraft were suspended on Monday night due to heavy fog and low visibility.

Operations were restarted on Tuesday morning at 07:15, utilizing both land and sea resources. The disappearance occurred in a non-concessioned area of the beach that was not under active surveillance following the end of the summer bathing season.
