Costa Rica and Paraguay implement new land and rural development initiatives

Costa Rica’s National Registry, through the National Geographic Institute, has launched a free digital tool called CR-PPP to assist topographers and improve the precision of land surveying. The web-based system allows users to upload GPS/GNSS measurement data for automatic processing, providing results via email within minutes. A key feature of the tool is an intelligent mathematical model that corrects for tectonic and seismic movements, ensuring coordinates align with official maps and providing greater legal security for property owners.

In Paraguay, the National Institute for Rural and Land Development (Indert) is implementing a strategy to promote generational renewal in rural areas. The initiative aims to integrate young people into agricultural production by providing access to land, financing, and legal security. Under the government’s ‘New Rurality’ vision, the program offers incentives such as zero-interest loans for acquiring land from agrarian reform, intended to strengthen productivity and rural community stability.
