Costa Rica and US seize almost 5 tonnes of cocaine and marijuana in Pacific operation
In coordinated Pacific‑zone operations, Costa Rican and United States law‑enforcement agents intercepted a total of 4,780 kg of cocaine and marijuana destined for drug‑storage facilities in Costa Rica. The seizure included 63 bundles of narcotics and resulted in the capture of 14 individuals linked to the trafficking networks.
The actions were part of a joint effort between Costa Rican authorities and the U.S. Southern Command’s Joint Interagency Task Force, highlighting the region’s role as a logistical hub for international drug cartels and the ongoing commitment to apply “systemic friction” against organized crime.
