Costa Rica announces holiday cultural season

The Costa Rican Ministry of Culture and Youth has announced ‘Tiempo de Compartir’, a 39-day cultural season running from November 19 to December 27, 2026. The initiative features 18 major activities designed to promote national traditions, support local artists, and boost holiday tourism.

Scheduled events include the 506 Costa Rica Jazz Fest, which will feature the United States as a guest country, and the ‘Posadas de Luz’, which will bring choirs and traditional gastronomy to the streets of central San José. Other highlights include the VIVÍ Vitrina Visual CR visual arts platform and the Christmas Coral Day at the National Theater.

The program is informed by the 2026 National Culture Survey, which noted that 94.5% of the population values national gastronomy and that interest in local music has risen from 25.8% to 42.7% over the last decade. Minister Jorge Rodríguez Vives emphasized that the season aims to reinforce Costa Rican identity through the participation of national talent.
