Costa Rica authorities seize about 1 kg marijuana in Corcovado National Park

Public force officers, working with the National Conservation Area System (SINAC), discovered approximately one kilogram of apparent marijuana during a preventive patrol in the Corcovado National Park, sector Carate, about eight kilometres from the La Leona post in Puerto Jiménez. Two packages were found in the forest, each containing roughly half a kilogram. The seized material was handed over to the fiscal authority, who ordered its evidence collection and transfer to Puerto Jiménez for judicial processing.

The operation is part of routine patrols aimed at preventing illegal activities in Costa Rica’s protected areas and safeguarding the region’s high ecological value. Authorities emphasized that such surveillance missions are ongoing throughout Corcovado and other protected zones in the southern part of the country.
