Costa Rica completes largest private distributed solar project
Costa Rica has completed its largest private distributed-generation solar energy project. The installation, located at an ICU Medical industrial facility, was co-developed by renewable energy developer Avolta and ICU Medical.
The photovoltaic plant has a total installed capacity of 4.56 megawatts direct current (MW-DC). It is projected to generate approximately 6.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity in its first year of operation, which is equivalent to the annual power consumption of roughly 2,500 average Costa Rican households.
The project operates under the regulatory framework of Law 10086, which governs distributed energy generation in the country.
