Costa Rica evaluates hosting Miss Universe and appoints new China ambassador
Costa Rican President Laura Fernández met with Miss Costa Rica, María Alejandra Acosta, and local franchise director Yessenia Ramírez to discuss the possibility of the country hosting a future edition of Miss Universe. The meeting focused on using the pageant as a tool for tourism and cultural promotion, as well as a means to boost the national economy through public-private partnerships.
In a separate diplomatic development, the government of President Fernández has appointed career diplomat Sofía Mitjavila Sánchez as the new ambassador to the People's Republic of China. This appointment is part of a broader strategic restructuring of Costa Rica's diplomatic corps intended to strengthen the nation's international presence through specialized leadership.
