Costa Rica fuel prices rise sharply in 2026
Costa Rica is facing significant economic pressure due to aggressive increases in fuel prices throughout 2026. Comparisons between January and November indicate a substantial rise in the cost of filling vehicle tanks.
Diesel, which is primarily used for cargo and public transportation, has seen a particularly sharp increase. In January, a 50-liter tank of diesel cost approximately ¢27,450, whereas the projected cost for November is ¢40,800. This rise is expected to create a domino effect, increasing the cost of various basic products and services across the country.
