Costa Rica healthcare workers strike over salary delays

Healthcare professionals across Costa Rica launched a nationwide strike to protest significant delays in salary payments. Workers from various public hospitals and health centers, including the Carlos Durán Clinic, Max Peralta Hospital in Cartago, and Tony Facio Hospital in Limón, participated in the demonstrations.

The unrest stems from the implementation of a new payment system that has reportedly suffered constant failures, leaving staff without timely wages for several months. Some employees, such as nurses at the Max Peralta Hospital, reported going two and a half months without pay, causing severe financial hardship and difficulty covering basic living expenses and transportation to work.
