Costa Rica Institute of Technology students build autonomous lunar rover

A multidisciplinary student team at the Space Systems Laboratory of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC) has designed and constructed an autonomous lunar rover from scratch. The project aims to support future lunar exploration missions.

The rover was developed entirely using existing resources within the university’s laboratories, demonstrating the country’s growing potential in aerospace engineering without the need for multi-million-dollar external budgets. Electronic engineering graduate Fabián Gómez highlighted the team's resourcefulness and self-reliance throughout the development process.
