Costa Rica launches CR-PPP digital tool for property measurement

The Costa Rican National Registry, through the National Geographic Institute, has launched CR-PPP, a new free digital tool designed to automate the processing of satellite measurement data. The web-based system allows topography and cadastral professionals to upload data from GPS/GNSS equipment, performing automatic calculations within minutes and delivering final reports via email.

This technological advancement aims to make the georeferencing of vertices, lands, and farms faster, more reliable, and more accessible. By simplifying field calculations, the tool reduces operational costs and accelerates the registration of cadastral plans.

A key feature of the CR-PPP module is its ability to account for tectonic and seismic activity. The system integrates an intelligent mathematical model that automatically corrects for the natural movements of the Earth, such as those caused by earthquakes. This ensures that coordinates align with Costa Rica’s official map system, minimizing boundary discrepancies and increasing legal security for property owners.
