Costa Rica Prison Escape; Guatemala Launches Search for Fugitive

Authorities in Costa Rica activated a search operation after a convicted inmate, identified as Vásquez Castro, fled the semi‑institutional centre Finca La Paz in San Ramón. The Ministry of Justice and Peace confirmed the escape was noticed at 5 p.m., and the police, together with the public force, are urging citizens to call 911 with any information.

In Guatemala, the Directorate General of the Prison System announced the escape of César Humberto Hernández Vicente from the Granja de Rehabilitación Pavón. The prison service released a photograph of the fugitive and asked the public to report tips via dedicated hotlines and WhatsApp, while coordinating the search with the National Civil Police. Both institutions are preserving investigation details to avoid compromising the inquiries.
