Costa Rica showcases boutique hospitality and tropical architecture

Costa Rica continues to feature in specialized travel and architectural showcases, highlighting diverse luxury and design offerings in the Guanacaste and Nosara regions.

In the Guanacaste province, the Rio Perdido Hotel & Thermal River offers a secluded boutique experience situated on 600 acres of tropical dry forest near Bagaces. The property features 38 private bungalows and is positioned between two river canyons, including a thermal river. The surrounding ecosystem includes a rare dwarf forest and provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, such as howler monkeys and various bird species.

In the Guiones jungle of Nosara, Instinto Estudio has completed the Linea House project. This architectural endeavor consists of two independent “sister houses” designed for a Canadian family. The project emphasizes modern tropical architecture through passive design strategies, such as deep cantilevered eaves and continuous cross-ventilation, to manage the tropical climate without heavy reliance on air conditioning. The design utilizes local timber, terrazzo, and earth tones to integrate the dwellings with the jungle landscape.
