Tegucigalpa and Costa Rica face heavy rains from tropical waves
Heavy rainfall and tropical waves are causing significant weather disruptions across Central America. In Honduras, sudden torrential rains have flooded streets, caused tree falls, and led to power outages in Tegucigalpa. Affected areas include the Kennedy colony, Las Joyas, and Miraflores. These storms arrive after a period of drought and high temperatures, though authorities note that short bursts of rain may not immediately resolve the water crisis in local reservoirs.
In Costa Rica, the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) reports a shift in weather patterns due to tropical wave number 45. This system is expected to activate the Intertropical Convergence Zone, bringing increased humidity and instability. Residents should expect heavy showers and thunderstorms, particularly along the Pacific coast, through the beginning of next week.
