Costa Rican business groups seek to expedite infrastructure and construction processes

Business organizations in Costa Rica are calling for increased efficiency in administrative and judicial processes to prevent delays in strategic infrastructure and construction projects.

The Costa Rican Chamber of Construction (CCC) has requested support from the Ministry of Housing and Human Settlements to expedite height restriction procedures managed by the Civil Aviation Technical Council (CETAC). The CCC noted that current response times create uncertainty for real estate and construction planning in airport approach zones. Proposed solutions include digitizing the process via the APC-Requisitos platform and integrating approach cones into the National Territorial Information System (SNIT).

Separately, the Chamber of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica and Representatives of Foreign Houses (Crecex) has urged the Administrative and Civil Treasury Contentious Tribunal to quickly resolve a precautionary measure halting negotiations for the modernization of Puerto Caldera. The suspension, stemming from an environmental claim, has paused contract negotiations with Consorcio Sunset. Crecex warned that such delays increase logistical costs, disrupt supply chains, and harm the competitiveness of Costa Rican foreign trade.
