Costa Rican Construction Chamber urges electrical system reform
The Costa Rican Chamber of Construction (CCC) has joined other business groups in urging legislators to reach agreements on the National Electrical System Harmonization Law. The CCC emphasizes that the country must ensure an electricity supply that is sufficient, reliable, and competitively priced to maintain economic growth.
According to CCC President Alfredo Volio, the availability and cost of electricity directly impact the development of infrastructure, housing, real estate projects, and industrial parks. The organization warns that delaying these fundamental decisions hinders Costa Rica’s ability to attract investment and modernize its energy system.
Additionally, the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Sector (Uccaep) has stated that discussions regarding the electrical reform should not be conditioned on debates surrounding the Special Fund for Higher Education (FEES), arguing that energy security and education are distinct national priorities.
