Costa Rican court orders detention for children of Edwin López Vega
The Limón Criminal Court has ordered preventive detention until June 23, 2027, for the four children of Edwin López Vega, known as ‘Pecho de Rata,’ and several other individuals involved in the ‘Riverside’ case.
López Vega, who has been extradited to the United States, is alleged to have led a criminal structure specialized in national and international drug trafficking and money laundering. The four children, all with the surname López Tindall, are identified by the Judicial Investigation Department (OIJ) and the Public Ministry as key figures within the organization.
Out of 54 individuals detained during the initial ‘Riverside’ operation on June 23, 37 are required to serve preventive detention, while the remaining suspects have been granted alternative precautionary measures. The judicial measures are intended to remain in effect as the legal proceedings continue.
