Costa Rican deputies near completion of 4x3 work schedule motions

The Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica is expected to conclude the voting process for motions regarding the 4x3 exceptional workdays project this week. The initiative proposes allowing 12-hour shifts for four consecutive days followed by three days of rest, specifically for certain activities within the manufacturing sector.

Legislative President Yara Jiménez set a goal of 300 votes per day to accelerate the process. To date, deputies have voted on 3,885 amendments, including 1,684 substantive motions and 2,201 revision motions. Currently, 363 revision motions remain pending. Most of these are scheduled to be voted on during Monday's plenary sessions, with the remainder expected to be completed during an extraordinary session on Wednesday.

The project is being processed through an abbreviated procedure. Once the current stage of motion reviews is finished, the initiative will move toward its final stage before being eligible for its first debate.
