Marathón and Alajuelense draw 2-2 in Copa Centroamericana

Marathón and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense played to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the Copa Centroamericana quarter-finals at the Francisco Morazán Stadium in Honduras.

Alajuelense took an early lead in the second minute through Anthony Hernández. Marathón responded quickly in the 10th minute with a free kick goal by Yairo Moreno. The Honduran side regained the lead in the 50th minute when Damín Ramírez scored a header, making it 2-1.

However, Alajuelense secured a late equalizer in the 85th minute via Ángel Zaldívar. The draw leaves the series open, with the second leg scheduled to take place in Costa Rica on September 17, 2026.
