Costa Rican OIJ official detained for alleged failure to report criminal link

An official from the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) in Pococí, Costa Rica, has been detained following an investigation into the alleged procurement of impunity and dereliction of duty.

The official, identified by the surname Rojas, reportedly failed to timely report the discovery of a driver's license belonging to Alejandro Arias Monge, known as “Diablo”. The document was found among the personal belongings of an individual who died in a traffic accident.

According to investigative reports, Rojas acknowledged the find and noted the need to report it, but failed to notify her superiors. Investigators suggest this omission may be linked to the criminal structure associated with alias “Diablo,” who was a priority target with an active arrest warrant at the time.
