Costa Rican Red Cross searches for two fishermen missing after flash flood

The Costa Rican Red Cross is conducting search operations for two fishermen who went missing after being swept away by a flash flood in the Aguas Frías River. The incident occurred in San Pablo de Cariari, Pococí, when a group of five people was caught by a sudden rise in the river's water level while fishing.

Three members of the group managed to reach the shore safely, but the current carried the other two away. Rescue efforts have been hampered by difficult weather conditions, high water turbidity, strong currents, and swampy terrain, forcing rescuers to temporarily retreat to ensure their own safety. Search operations are ongoing as teams reorganize logistics to navigate the rising river levels.
